Fit and Nutritious
Welcome at » 2007 » October

Most people that want to lose weight go on some type of a diet plan. They know that they must eat less calories to lose weight. Although it is important to take in less calories than you burn, it’s also important to pay attention to what type of calories you are eating.

You can achieve the same calorie level if you eat two fast food meals a day (think microwave pizza or something heavily processed) as if you eat five small meals of a healthy diet of chicken, rice, fruits, and veggies. Yet, you know that you are getting more nutrients and less fat by eating the healthy food.

Overall, eating healthy will benefit you the most because not only will you lose weight, but you will feel better. You will most likely notice a remarkable difference in your health, including less headaches, less stomachaches, and more energy and concentration.

That being said, it’s also important to remember that too much of a good thing isn’t necessarily good either. Of course, you can’t subsist off of grapefruit alone (extreme diet), although it is a healthy food. You must strive to have a healthy balance of foods, not just for nutrients but so you don’t get bored eating healthy. If you are dieting, but have trouble overeating, you should consider an appetite suppressant or weight loss pill. This will help you eat less, which over time will shrink your stomach. Then you will naturally want to eat less and feel nauseous if you overeat.

Combine the above advice together–eat healthy foods, eat a balanced diet, and eat less, you will be on your way to your ideal weight.

Per my request, the Utah Christmas catering company I use every year for my annual holiday party has introduced some healthy alternatives for me to serve this year.  My request came as I realize that the Christmas season is the toughest part of the year to stay in shape – I think I speak for many when I say that.

While I certainly believe in staying true to your diet and healthy eating habits, there are certainly exceptions that are more than justified.  For example, your grandma’s divine chocolate cake on Christmas Eve.  Dig in! You deserve it!  If you don’t allow yourself indulgences every once in a while, you will certainly not stick to any sort of diet.  Plus, that is what the gym is for, right?  Enjoy your fattening, luscious cake then high tail it to the gym to work it off!

So for those of you (dare I say, women?)  worried about gaining weight over the holidays, relax!  Keep your eating in check, sticking to your diet at least during the weekdays.  Park at the back of the parking lot when you go holiday shopping to get some extra exercise.  Keep your portions small.  But for heaven’s sake, enjoy your favorite guilty pleasure foods every once in awhile!
